FOUNDATION INFORMATION

RATIONA

COMMUNITY CENTER-2641 West 14th. Provides alternative social activities and events. Open for use by gay groups. Meeting place for GEAR committee and rap groups.

HOTLINE-Provides Community outreach through HOTLINE telephones. Acts as an information center and referral source for legal, medical, counseling and social events.

HIGH GEAR Is responsible for the writing, layout, printing and distribution of "HIGH GEAR" which covers ⚫items of Interest to the Community and is distributed throughout Ohio and adjoining states.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES COMMITTEE Provides speakers to Community and civic groups to explain the GEAR FOUNDATION'S purpose and services and to educate people on Gay issues in general, ie. legal rights, the psychological perspective and social implications. LIGHT (Lesbians in GEAR helping together) Women's coordinating committee of the GEAR Foundation. Provides the channel for the particular needs of the Lesbian Community to be met through sponsorship of two ongoing rap groups and other activities and events.

ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE Plans activities and events for the GEAR FOUNDATION.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE-Plans, organizes, and coordinates benefits, activities and events for the GEAR FOUNDATION.

OUTREACH COMMITTEE-Liaison committee between the GEAR FOUNDATION and other Gay Organizations on the Local, State and National level. Provides the communication channel for incoming and outgoing information between GEAR and these groups.

TRAINING SESSIONS for the Speaker's Bureau and the Hotline are conducted on a regular basis. Please call the HOTLINE and one of the Coordinators will be back in contact with you with information.

CLEVELAND WOMEN'S OPEN HOUSE

This month marks the first anniversary of the COMMUNITY CALENDAR as a regular feature of HIGH GEAR. It has been a year of growth for both the Calendar and the Community. From our first four week calendar, there has been a steady addition of events, meetings, etc. within our Community. The Community section was also added during the year to provide you with an idea of what the groups listed are, and what they do. FIND IT FAST has continued to add information and referral phone numbers for quick and easy access.

Reflecting back it has been a good year and there is still plenty of room for improvement. Changes made within the past two months have enabled our information to get to the Calendar quicker than before, but still some groups do get missed.

Our apologies to anyone who did submit information which did not appear during the past year. PLEASE keep

the information coming, we'll keep adding.

A few things you might note: This month all college based groups were deleted after the first week of June. We want you back in September so please drop us a line as to when you will begin meeting again. Also let us know if you are meeting through the summer and we'll add you back on in the next issue. If your group is not yet listed on the Calendar, please let us know and we'll add your information. Call 621-6546 and leave a message for Win.

If you have suggestions to improve the appearance of the Calendar please let us know. The calendar exists for you. If you would like to help with the preparation of the layout of the Calendar please call and leave a message.

And last but not least, a very personal and heartfelt 27 "thanks" to all of the people who assisted in so many ways to make the Calendar's first year a good one!
